The TDB 29th International Dental Congress Has Concluded

The Turkish Dental Association’s 29th International Dental Congress was held at the Istanbul Congress Center from October 1–4, 2026, hosted by the Istanbul Dental Chamber.

Bringing together scientists, dentists, dental students, and representatives of the dental sector from various fields of dentistry in Istanbul, the four-day congress program featured over 50 scientific sessions and courses, as well as numerous oral presentations. Dentists who participated in the educational sessions had the opportunity to earn credits under the Turkish Dental Association’s Continuing Dental Education program.

In addition to the scientific program, the Expodental Fair introduced dentists to new products and technologies in the dental sector. A photography contest and exhibition were also held as part of the congress.

The congress began with an opening ceremony hosted by Dentist M. Serdar Sıralar. Following a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem, the Rhythm Arena performance took the stage, after which the opening speeches were delivered.

At the opening ceremony, Dr. Ayşenur Cengiz, Deputy Director of Health Services at the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate; Prof. Dr. Olcay Şakar, President of the Istanbul Dental Association and Chair of the Organizing Committee; Dr. Fatih Güler, President of the Turkish Dental Association and Congress Chair; and Cengiz Karabulut, Deputy Governor of Istanbul, delivered speeches.

The speeches focused on the impact of scientific and technological advancements on dentistry, the importance of professional solidarity, the future of oral and dental health services, and current issues facing the profession.

The opening program concluded with a stage performance by “Kirli Sepeti,” featuring Uğur Bilgin, Onur Buldu, and Aziz Aslan.

Throughout the congress, current scientific developments in various branches of dentistry, new treatment approaches, digital applications, and technological innovations were discussed. In the hands-on courses, participants had the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and experience.

Musical performances by the Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry Music Club accompanied the program each day of the congress.

A meeting of the Turkish Dental Association’s Council of Presidents was also held as part of the congress. At the meeting, attended by the presidents and general secretaries of all dental chambers, current issues facing the profession, proposed solutions, and agenda items for the coming period were discussed.

On the second day of the congress, the TDB 40th Anniversary Cocktail Reception was held to mark the 40th anniversary of the Turkish Dental Association’s founding. Following the reception, participants gathered for the MUSICANDLE concert.

On the final day of the congress, the scientific and social programs were reviewed during the closing ceremony, and those who contributed to the organization were thanked. The program also included a raffle for participating dentists.

At the handover ceremony held at the end of the event, the congress flag was presented to Dr. Ali Ayrancı, President of the Konya Dental Association, on behalf of the Association, which will host the 30th International TDB Dental Congress.

On the final day of the four-day congress, while no scientific sessions were held, the Expodental Fair welcomed visitors. The TDB 29th International Dental Congress brought dentists together in Istanbul for four days with its scientific program, hands-on training sessions, industry meetings, and social events, and concluded successfully.
